Honorable Mention: Blue Screen Life by Pinback, 2001
Pinback is like the perfect music for a smart person. It’s delicate and intellectual and yet many of the songs seem to have a bassline that reveals the passionate core within. Blue Screen Life really doesn’t miss, each track better than the next. Seville and Penelope are standouts. For those who have grown weary of Death Cab and whatnot.
